I drink one green smoothie almost every day.
Every day except for Sundays.
And Sundays don’t count because they’re meant for coffee, donuts and pizza. And sleeping in.
Ooh, and naps. Napping is my favorite.
The reason I drink a green smoothie a day is because spinach is quite possibly the best thing you can put in your body, next to walnuts, kale and blueberries. And if I can have spinach that tastes like ice cream rather than like, well, spinach, that’s what I’ll have. And since spinach does taste like ice cream when blended into a smoothie, that’s the way I prefer it the most.
So yes, smoothies it is. Smoothies over salads any day.
I’ve tried several variations of green smoothies and my favorite one to date goes something like this.
My Ultimate Green Smoothie
originally inspired by Oh She Glows
makes 1 | vegan
1 large handful spinach
3/4 c frozen strawberries
3/4 frozen banana, torn in two
1 cup light vanilla soy milk
3/4 scoop vanilla protein powder
1 T flaxseed
Method | Place ingredients in blender, starting with strawberries then milk, flax and protein powder. And finish with spinach and bananas on the very top. Blend, blend blend away until you’ve reached smoothie bliss. Then slurp like you’ve never slurped before and never look back.
I’m telling you, never look back. Ever. Especially if granola is involved…
