Cutting Things Short

First, let me start by saying “Hey it’s been a while. I’ve been mostly hanging out over at Minimalist Baker, if you were wondering. People do need their pancakes and french toast, after all and who am I to deprive them?

before

The site has kind of taken off and John and I are both hanging on for the ride, which explains my absence over here. But, I do plan to change that in the coming weeks so you’ll be seeing more of me in this space, sharing some recipes, musings, photography, hippie DIY projects a little beauty talk. But enough about me, how about YOU? Are things well? I’ve missed you. Ah, this feels nice, agreed?”

Made-up blogger-reader dialogue is so fun because it’s like creating your own dream friendship with no one else’s input. Imaginary reader never talks back or sasses you, they’re always there when you need them, and they don’t care if you’re not wearing make up or proper dress by the middle of the day. No offense to the actual reader, but would any of you really you accept my unbrushed teeth, gorilla breath and morning hair horn if you knew me in real life? I didn’t think so. See, I’m doing us both a favor.

In other news, I lost 3 pounds in hair! I started playing with my long hippie locks recently by pinning them up to mock a shorter do (inspiration here). I kind of fell in love with the shorter style as my old mermaid look had gotten kind of drab, and I decided to go with it.

So I visited my stylist this week and she whacked it off. An assistant came around shortly after to sweep up half of my identity into a little vacuum shoot on the floor. Every strand gone before I could even blink or fully exhale. But when she spun me around and I got my first peek, my nerves settled. Sometimes a little jolting change is just what you need to reinvigorate your existence. That and some gaudy teal glitter nail polish, which I treated myself to promptly after the big chop. #whoamI?

before and after shot

Drastic before and after much? So there’s my little update on where I’ve been and where I plan to be in the next few months. Thanks for sticking around through my madness and spotty appearances and long overdue haircuts. Still friends? I hope so. See you again soon.
