2 New Workouts.

Since starting a loose variation of the Paleo Diet a couple weeks ago, I’ve tried a couple of new workouts at the recommendation of websites like this.

The first being SPRINTS.

Because the Paleo Diet doesn’t call for a lot of carbohydrates at the absence of grains, you really don’t need to do a lot of cardio. In fact, it’s discouraged.

What is encouraged, however, is 1) staying moderately active along with 2) sprinting.

I did a sprint workout last week and loved it. Made me feel hardcore.

It was quick, didn’t require planning or equipment, and really challenged my body and heart. Here’s what I did:

Basically after my walking warmup, I did 30 second sprints with 30 second walk breaks in between.

Because of the recovery the walk breaks provided, I was able to maintain my sprint speed all the way through ’til the end although it was a struggle.

My heart was pounding the entire time. I love workouts like that that really challenge your body. Plus, sprints are great because I don’t always have time/not always in the mood for a long 5 or 6 mile run.

Long distances can get tedious, ya know?

Speaking of challenging workouts, I came across this one on self.com recently and have since completed it a number of times.

Once again, I like it because it’s quick, requires little equipment, and is really challenging if you push yourself through it all the way.

My favorite moves were the OVERHEAD WALKING LUNGE.

BUTTERFLY SITUP. {OUCH!}

And the WALL DRILL. {I think I gave up at 50 seconds.}

And my favorite part of the video was when she yells ‘Then just run the hell outta the wall. Try and push that sucka down. One minute a that.  3-2-1 GO.’

Oh Denise. You kind of scare me. But I love your accent.

I wish she was for hire because if she was my personal trainer, I think I’d cry tears of joy and likely pain every day. And I’d have abs like a bodybuilder. #jealous
